The CD DVD cabinet shown in the picture above is made of white oak with a golden oak stain. The handles and vine like inlay are purple heart. Purple heart is a curios wood.

The purple color comes from the oils and resins in the wood that oxidize when they are exposed to air. To maintain the color in a furniture piece the purple heart must be left after cutting and sanding until the color returns. Then the pieces can be finished to seal in the color.

The cabinet shown runs on wooden slides making that warm wood on wood sound.

Each drawer has a stop system of my own original to hold the CDs or DVDs in place.
