Furniture Studio - Oval Glass Top Dining Table
Some glimpses of my studio
showing work in process.

Oval Glass Top Dining Table
The idea for the oval dining table with a glass center was a development from my small coffee table. Both have a sculptural design beneath the glass even though the coffee
table is asymmetrical.
For structural reasons the tables are made in two layers. The surface has the grain running the length of the table for surface beauty and interest.
Underneath is a second layer that consists of four quadrants. The grain direction of the quadrants runs towards the center of the table. Each of the quadrants is separated by a small strip of
leather.
All this is to ensure that the table does not warp and twist with seasonal weather changes. This is particularly important because the glass center needs to remain even with the table top.
Although all these necessary precautions are taken ... just incase there are also four adjusting screws beneath the center sculpture to finely adjust the height of the glass and ensure that is
remains even with the table top.
